Uninsured / Private-Pay Services
Coverage & fees — British Columbia
We provide both MSP-insured physician services (when medically indicated) and uninsured services (private pay). If you have active BC MSP coverage, medically necessary insured physician services are billed to MSP and are not charged to you.
Program and private-pay fees apply only to uninsured services — for example, performance testing such as VO₂ max and DEXA body composition, coaching, care coordination, and non-MSP testing where applicable.
Enrollment in any program is optional and is not required to access insured physician services. We do not provide priority access to insured physician services based on payment of any uninsured fee.
If a visit includes uninsured elements, we will explain the services and fees in advance and obtain your agreement before providing them.

Optional Annual Uninsured Services Block Fee
Some patients prefer to cover common uninsured administrative and program-support services with an annual block fee rather than paying per item. If offered, this fee is:
✦ Not associated with priority access to insured care
✦ For a period of no greater than one year
✦ Includes written itemization of what is covered and each item's pay-per-service value
✦ 7-day rescission period — block fee refunded, services already provided billed individually
If you do not wish to pay a block fee, you can always pay for uninsured services individually as they occur.
Missed Appointments & Late Cancellations
| Late Cancellation / Missed Appointment Fee | $100 |
This fee may be applied when appointments are missed or cancelled late, where you have been informed of the policy in advance.
Laboratory & Testing Notes
Publicly insured laboratory services are ordered only when medically indicated as part of insured care. Program enrollment does not automatically trigger publicly insured lab requisitions.
If you request additional testing that is not publicly funded (or is being provided outside an approved/public pathway), we will disclose that it is not paid under the applicable public program, provide the exact price in advance, and obtain your consent before arranging it.
Questions About MSP Billing & Patient Protections
If you have questions about MSP coverage or believe you were charged inappropriately for an insured medical benefit, you can contact Health Insurance BC. The Province of BC also provides an extra-billing investigation pathway and form for beneficiaries.
All fees exclude applicable taxes, where taxes apply.
